Position Purpose: Reporting to the Director of Child Care, the Group Supervisor-Lead Teacher is responsible for planning and overseeing his/her group’s daily activities ensuring that each child is safe, comfortable, and engaged. seeking qualified, experienced candidates for the position of Group Supervisor – Lead Teacher, beginning as soon as possible. Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a safe, healthy, and nurturing learning environment for all children on a daily basis
  • Plan and facilitate weekly lesson plans using the current PA Learning Standards
  • Collaborate with and serve as a mentor for your assistant teacher
  • Establish and maintain positive and productive relationships with families, keeping parents/guardians well informed regarding their child’s growth and development
  • Provide feedback regarding their child’s development and growth, through completion of individual progress reports and formal parent conferences  
  • Work cooperatively with others as a member of a team
  • Maintain a positive attitude and strong work ethic

Other Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Director with designated activities as requested

Qualifications:

A group supervisor must possess one of the following qualifications:

  1.  A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, special education, elementary education or the human services field; or
  2. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and one year of experience with children; or
  3. An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and two years of experience with children; or
  4. An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and three years of experience with children; or
  5. A CDA certificate and two years experience with children; or
  6. At least two years experience as a Group Supervisor in a childcare setting

In addition, a Group Supervisor must be warm and enjoy working with young children.  He or she must be willing to assist the children in all aspects of their personal care and hygiene, proper nutrition and interactions with other children.  Working cooperatively with other members of the Child Care team is necessary for the well-being and safety of the children.
